On Sunday (2/5), we went to Gary's house for his
annual Super Bowl party. It's always special when the Patriots are playing,
although we could've used a different outcome this time. However, Dude and
Lucy (Bruce & Sarah's daughter) played very well together and spent several
extended periods of time doing different things without any adult guidance.
They even closed the door to the hallway so that they could "do their thing"
without having to deal with us grown-ups.
On Monday (2/6), Melissa brought Dude to The G&G while she went on an interview (and I was tutoring). Shockingly, Gramma reports that Dude was a pleasure to have! While there, he discovered the "Teddy Closet" (the big closet in my old room which houses tons of old toys and a large stuffed animal collection known as The Health & Care Teddy Center). Not surprisingly, he got in too deep and needed help climbing out. Today (Tuesday), Melissa had jury duty so I took Dude to his swimming lesson. |

On Friday, I had the opportunity to hear the following
phrase emanate from Dude's lips:
"I was pulling the airplane out of my pants and it hit my chin and it hurts!" The explanation: Earlier, Dude came up to me holding a fairly heavy wooden airplane (about a foot long) jammed halfway down the front of his pants. He said, "Look - I have an airplane in my pants!", intending to elicit laughter (which he did). Then a few minutes later, he was in my bedroom when suddenly I heard an "OWWW" and he started semi-fake crying. I asked him what was wrong, and he replied, "I was pulling the airplane out of my pants and it hit my chin and it hurts." |
